Thelma Eakin - The author of the book "The Mine's Afire!"

Earlier today we were lucky enough for Thelma Eakin to come in and talk to T1 and T2 about her book 'The Mines' Afire'. She answered many of our questions and she even brought in a couple of souvenirs she had, including a lamp that was sort of like the one that would have been used in the mine.

    Weren't we lucky to have Thelma come in and speak with us about her book? I think it is great that we have an author that lives in our town! What was the most interesting thing you found out when she was speaking?
    I thought it was fascinating that Tommy Carter was based on Boll Mosely!

    Hi Mia, what a great experience having the author of your class novel come in to talk to you all. It was lovely to see Mrs Eakin today as she was one of my teachers at High School.

    What are some of the things you learnt from her? What prompted her to write this novel?
